👋 What Were Dinosaurs?
Dinosaurs were amazing reptiles that lived on Earth a very long time ago — millions and millions of years before any human was born! Some ate only plants (we call them herbivores), and some ate meat (carnivores). They came in every size — from tiny ones the size of a chicken 🐔 to giants longer than three school buses! 🚌🚌🚌 We know about them today because scientists called paleontologists dig up their bones, called fossils. 🦴

☄️ What Happened to Them?
About 66 million years ago, the dinosaurs disappeared. Most scientists think a giant space rock called an asteroid ☄️ crashed into the Earth. It threw up so much dust that it blocked the sun, the plants couldn't grow, and the big dinosaurs couldn't find enough food. 🌑
But here's the happy part: not ALL of them vanished! The small feathery ones survived and slowly, over millions of years, became the birds we see flying around today. So every time you see a bird, you're looking at a real, living dinosaur! 🐦💛
